Career Experience
Ruben is a skilled immigration lawyer with over 10 years of practical experience in the field of immigration law. His career has taken him from private practice to government and back. This unique trajectory has given him the skills to meet the varied needs of foreign nationals and employers.
From 2005-2013, Ruben worked for several distinguished immigration law firms across Los Angeles. During this time, he handled both family and employment-based visa petitions for private clients, small businesses, and Fortune 500 companies.
With respect to family cases, Ruben is proud to have helped clients with marriage petitions, immediate relative petitions, immigration bar waivers, dependent visa petitions, fiancé visas, and much more. He has also represented clients in their applications to become U.S. Citizens. In addition to family-based visa applications, Ruben has handled hundreds of employment-based visa petitions for business large and small. During this time, he was charged with preparing an array of complex visa petitions, including, but not limited to: H-1B; H-3; E-1; E-2; E-3; L-1; O-1; P-1; P-3; and PERM applications. Ruben has assisted athletes, artists, professionals, investors, businessmen, and extraordinary foreign nationals with all their immigration needs.
Academic Background
Ruben is a graduate of Pepperdine University, School of Law, in Malibu, CA. While in law school, due to his academic excellence and prominent work history, Ruben was selected amongst hundreds of applicants to work as an extern with the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Immigration Litigation, in Washington, D.C. There, he was charged with preparing appellate briefs on behalf of the U.S. Department of Justice before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. This responsibility required that he thoroughly research and understand the immigration court and deportation process. Moreover, it made him skilled in all forms relief available to those caught in the immigration court and deportation process. Though his passion is in private practice, this government experience proved invaluable and has allowed him to utilize a unique perspective when helping his clients.
During his law school career, Ruben received multiple accolades for legal writing including two consecutive CALI Awards for Excellence in Legal Writing. Prior to attending Pepperdine University, School of Law, Ruben graduated from California State University, Monterey Bay, with a degree in Global Studies.
Ruben is licensed by The State Bar of California and qualified to appear in any Immigration Court in the United States.
